Uro glass is unique in that instead of an image being carved into the glass (etching) images are actually raised on the glass. Uro glass shapes, forms and even words are created at the same time the glass is formed. Basically, as the glass is formed into sheets, a series of rollers move across the glass, sometimes pushing in, creating pressure to keep the glass thin while at other times the rollers retract slightly, creating pressure and allowing the glass to expand outward. Basically, this keeps the glass smooth out while creating images and text "on top of" the glass.
We recommend uro glass for shower doors, shower enclosures, front doors, sidelights and transoms. Uro glass is outstanding for creating custom bar tops, table tops and counter tops.
